Toto’s research is aimed at investigating of the role of communication in enhancing tax compliance by using a case study on the Indonesian tax administration from government communication perspective. To be specific, the research will explore interactions between the tax administration and actors related to taxation, which includes taxpayers, other government units, and the public in general. The aim is to extend the literature on government communication, tax administration, and tax compliance, and to make policy recommendations to enhance tax compliance in Indonesia.

Biography

Toto is a doctoral researcher in Accounting at Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham. He holds a scholarship form Indonesian Government. His research interests lie in accounting and taxation. His current PhD research investigate the role of communication in enhancing tax compliance.

He is an Indonesian Government employee currently on study leave. Working at Directorate General of Taxes, Ministry of Finance of Indonesia for more than 20 years, he has served in various roles including Tax Bailiff, Business Analyst, Organizational Development Specialist, Data Quality Assurance Manager, and Head of a Tax Office.

He previously completed his MBA in at Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham in 2013 with thesis on Taxation of Islamic Finance.
