Health inequalities among children in SSASamiratu Wahab

Samiratu Wahab’s current research partly examines the sources and nature of health inequalities among children in the different sub regions of SSA, seeking to evaluate the widening gap in accessing healthcare in environments where inequalities are pervasive. Part of her research also specialises on the role of female leaders in women’s welfare attainment in developing India.

Biography

Samiratu started as a PhD student at the Department of Economics, in September 2020. She graduated with a master’s in economics from the University of Ghana in 2018. Before that, Samiratu had graduated as part of the top 5% of her cohort in the same University with a BA degree in Economics in 2015. Samiratu worked as a teaching assistant and graduate assistant before and after her Masters degree of which she tutored undergraduate students in courses such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Labour Economics. Currently, she works as a part time research fellow and teaching assistant with the University of Birmingham working on current trends in labour markets and leading undergraduate seminars.
