Dr Moataz Attallah "One important lesson learned from the economic crisis was that a country’s economy could not solely survive on the financial services sector. In fact, the countries that were least affected by the financial downturn were the ones that relied upon the manufacturing sector to pull them out of the crisis."
Moataz is a researcher, developing new materials and manufacturing processes that have applications in the aerospace, nuclear and defence industries. This work is done in partnership with major firms including Rolls-Royce plc, BAe Systems and Safran Group, all of whom benefit from the technologies developed in Birmingham labs. Moataz’s work assesses a wide range of manufacturing processes, including 3D metal printing and powder processing using a variety of experimental techniques such as synchrotron x-rays and electron microscopy.
