Professor Stefan Wolff is a political scientist by background and specialises in the management of contemporary security challenges, especially in the prevention and settlement of ethnic conflicts and in post-conflict reconstruction in deeply divided and war-torn societies.

He has extensive expertise in Northern Ireland, the Balkans, Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union and has also worked on a wide range of other conflicts elsewhere, including the Middle East, Africa and Central, South and Southeast Asia.

In 2006, Stefan served as Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the UK Defence Academy.

Bridging the divide between academia and policy-making, he has been involved in various phases of conflict settlement processes in places such as Iraq, Sudan, Sri Lanka, and Kosovo. Currently, he is involved in an advisory capacity in the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict in Moldova.

Professor Stefan Wolff "We live in a world in which violent conflict continues to cause immense, unnecessary and unacceptable human suffering across the globe. A consequence of the toxic conflagration of religious extremism, ethnic nationalism and organized crime, contemporary security challenges affect all sectors of our society. We play an active role in developing a new, comprehensive and integrated approach to managing violent conflict and to rebuilding war-torn states."
