On 23 June 2016, alumni from the fields of business, law, banking, insurance, property, and commercial ventures came together to network at the eleventh annual London Professional Network Event.
Alumni and university professionals chatted over drinks and canapés in the beautiful surrounds of the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
This year's event was hosted by Professor Kiran Trehan, Professor of Leadership and Enterprise Development. Professor Trehan highlighted the importance of alumni to the University's ongoing success, and kept us up to date with the latest campus developments, including the new university library, due to open this autumn for the academic year 2016/17. Also, she warmly welcomed to the event, our special guest speaker, James Eder, (2005 BCom Commerce) alumnus and founder of the Beans Group. James gave an inspiring address, encouraging alumni to make meaningful real world relationships in business.
We heard from Professor Bob Lee, Head of Birmingham Law School and Director of CEPLER, who shared success stories of young law graduates due to the support they had received from alumni. We also heard from Mary Agbesanwa, a final year Economics student from our Alumni Leadership Mentoring Programme, who passionately spoke of how her university experience has changed her life for the better.
