On Saturday 10 September, over 100 alumni came back to campus to celebrate their graduations from the University of Birmingham, along with members of the Guild of Graduates Alumni Association (GGAA).
It was particularly special to be joined by so many of our alumni celebrating their 40th, 45th, 50th and Golden anniversaries of graduation.
The morning saw the GGAA's AGM and Forum, where they were able to enjoy a presentation by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor David Adams, (1981, MBChB Medicine), Head of the College of Medical and Dental Sciences. Professor Adams gave an inspirational talk about the medical research developments at the University, including the work being undertaken at the Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy Centre.
The morning was followed by a delicious two course celebration lunch in Staff House. Afterwards guests were able to choose how they wished to spend their afternoons. Many took the opportunity to visit old classrooms and schools, as the campus was open to all for the University Open Day. Other attendees chose to visit the Barber Institute of Arts, the newly reopened Lapworth Museum of Geology, or Winterbourne House and Gardens.
The day was a wonderful opportunity to renew old acquaintances, make new friends and see how the university has changed over the years.
