Practical Ergonomics for Railway Systems is a 5-day short course offered by the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education designed around a week-long group assignment. Classroom teaching takes place in the morning and the afternoons are devoted to applying the lessons learnt to an investigation of a real world ergonomics issue.
The key elements of learning are:
- Introduction to Ergonomics – What ergonomics really is
- Risk Factors and Triangulation – Gathering meaningful information
- Task Analysis – Understanding what people do
- Human variability – Why one size doesn’t fit all
- Survey and interview methodologies
- Creating and evaluating solutions
Delegates learn to adopt a structured approach to designing systems for both staff and passengers of the railway. They comment: “The theory is one thing, but the hands-on assignment experience makes all the difference in designing systems that are fit for purpose”.
This short course attracts a CPD rating of 100 hours, subject to a participant attending the module in full and completing the associated assessment elements.
Course cost £600.
