The School has an excellent record of employment, with 97.6% of our Sport, Physical Education and Coaching Sciences graduates in jobs or postgraduate study six months after graduation (DLHE 2015/16 data). These statistics reflect the strong reputation of the School and the wide range of employability skills on offer in our multi-disciplinary degree programmes.
What do Sport, Physical Education and Coaching Science graduates do?
The majority of Sport, Physical Education and Coaching Science graduates work within a wide range of sport, coaching, fitness and leisure, sport development, school and community contexts, with fewer graduates entering commercial roles (in comparison to sport and exercise science graduates). A number of students choose to pursue further study, with most going on to study postgraduate teaching qualifications in both primary and secondary subjects, and other courses are related to improving their specialist sport or health skill-set or retraining in another industry.

The academic training that our degrees provide enables our graduates to follow academic careers in research and in teaching in Science and Sport at all levels from Primary education to University level. Many graduates continue to further study; for example medicine, physiotherapy, dietetics and occupational health. The University offers a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDipEd) for those wishing to enter the teaching profession
