The Birmingham Policy Commissions bring leading figures from the public, private and third sectors together with Birmingham academics to generate new thinking on contemporary issues of global, national and civic concern.
The Birmingham Policy Commissions have so far produced reports on the shape and nature of local public services in a ‘big society’, the future of nuclear energy in the UK and the distribution of wealth in the UK. Each Commission -
- agreed the key questions to be explored
- invited and considered evidence from a range of organisations, experts and interests as well as drawing on relevant research within the University
- identified implications for society at large or specific sectors/groups
- made innovative and challenging policy recommendations
Policy Commission findings inform the direction of future research, teaching and knowledge exchange activities across the University.
