Laura and Ciaran and all of the 1st year PhD students in Immunity and Infection had their annual Away Day at Dudley Zoo. All the students gave excellent talks on their projects. Ciaran won 3rd prize, a small stuffed toy lion, for his presentation on haematopoiesis. After a morning of talks, everyone had a delightful lunch in the grounds of Dudley Castle. The afternoon was spent on a tour of the excellent work done by the zoo in conserving and breeding endangered animals. In particular, a Rothschild’s giraffe had just been born at the zoo. Bengie, the orangutan, enjoyed meeting the students.
