What is HSMC Dubai?
In the face of global challenges, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the impact of sustained underinvestment in health systems, resulting in risks to human health and setbacks for economies and societies. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), by 2030 there will be an estimated shortage of 10 million health workers, predominantly in low- and lower-middle-income countries. This strain is especially pronounced in the eastern Mediterranean region’s most vulnerable countries, where limited financial resources hinder essential investments in health workforce development and resilience.
To address these challenges, HSMC Dubai was established to support the creation of robust, 'fit-for-purpose' health systems that can meet today’s demands and contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With a focus on rethinking global health approaches, HSMC Dubai builds on the renowned legacy of HSMC Birmingham, advancing impactful research, top-tier education, and policy-driven health system support across local and regional communities.
