The University of Birmingham has a large and varied estate, consisting of two main campus sites (Edgbaston & Selly Oak) along with properties in Stratford-upon-Avon, Ansty (near Coventry), Coniston (in Cumbria), Ironbridge and Dubai.
Therefore, it is essential that the university’s estate continues to support the delivery of excellent teaching and research, carried out in state-of-the-art facilities that are safe and accessible. Over the last 10 years, there have been many developments on campus, which have beneffited students, staff and the wider community.
Research
Major research investment has been made to ensure that the University's research facilities and resources compete on a world stage, and are able to nurture new ideas to approach challenges in the world today.
Teaching
The University has already delivered a number of major projects designed to enhance the student experience, as part of its capital development programme. These are changing the way subjects are taught and allow our students to learn and grow in state-of-the-art faciities.
Residential
Our student accommodation plays an integral role in enhancing the student and staff experience. We are dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible, and sustainable student homes. These new developments will also provide capacity for increasing student and staff numbers over the next decade.
