Maya is a doctoral candidate in human geography. Her project examines the impact of military checkpoints on the civilian population’s perception of security in Lebanon. Her research interests include checkpoints, urban and political geography, militarism, and civil-military relations in post-conflict societies, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa.
