Why Birmingham?
We are one of the leading sports science departments in the UK for scientific research into sport, exercise, health and rehabilitation. With a range of outstanding collaborators, we are ideally placed to tackle some of the most challenging contemporary physical activity questions.
Thanks to £16.4 million investment, we boast one of the largest custom-built sport, exercise and rehabilitation sciences facility in the UK. Furthermore, our campus-based sports facilities have undergone a major £55 million redevelopment to provide a state-of-the-art sports centre, a range of outdoor pitches and the city’s first 50-metre swimming pool.
We work closely with professional sports and practitioner bodies, and have developed unique educational partnerships with, among others, The Professional Golfers’ Association, The Football Association and the English Institute of Sport.
Postgraduate Community
With over 14,000 postgraduate students, which equates to almost 40% of the total student population, Birmingham offers you the chance to be part of one of the UK’s largest postgraduate communities. This means you will join a diverse international community of like-minded staff and students and receive the stimulation, support and challenges you need to succeed.
