Department of Social Work and Social Care Research

The Department of Social Work and Social Care undertakes world-leading research and evaluation to develop new theories and concepts, and influence both policy and practice. Our inter-disciplinary research community includes academic staff, research fellows and PhD students, and we seek to promote research excellence within an environment that allows researchers to flourish.

Our empirical work is funded by formal research bodies (such as the Economic and Social Research Council and the National Institute for Health Research), policy bodies (such as the Department for Education and the Department of Health & Social Care), and charitable institutions (such as the Wellcome Trust and the Leverhulme Trust). We regularly collaborate with researchers from other disciplines and schools in the University, and with other research-intensive institutions.
