What has your career path been since graduating from the University of Birmingham?
I'm a doctor who took time out of training to complete a PhD. I aim to continue having a solid interest in research and may pursue a path into a formal academic role in the future.
How did your course help prepare you for your career?
The research I conducted was relevant to my field but also helped me to gain an interest and appreciation in research methodology.
Why did you originally apply to do your chosen course at Birmingham?
I did my undergraduate medicine degree at Birmingham. Its a great uni and I wanted to come back for research purposes.
What inspired you most during your time at Birmingham? For example, guest speakers, lecturers, research, friendships, extra-curricular activities:
All of the above really. Some great friendships with PhD comrades such as Thomas Smith. A true inspiration to myself and many others in the laboratory.
What tips/ advice would you give to people who are considering studying your course at Birmingham?
Just do it!
