The Goethe Institut is the cultural institute of Germany with a global reach.
We are an examination centre for Goethe Institut qualifications awarded and recognised worldwide. These qualifications are in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for languages and range from A1 for beginners to C2 for language skills at advanced level. Goethe Institut examinations are well known throughout the world and the associated certificates are accepted as a qualification by employers and further education institutions in many countries.
At Languages for All, we run language courses that can help you prepare for these examinations. These language courses, which begin each September and last 20 weeks over both semesters, are for undergraduate and postgraduate students and members of staff at the University of Birmingham. Unfortunately, we do not offer language classes for non-UoB learners, but we highly recommend the Brasshouse at Birmingham Library.
Timetable
Examinations take place throughout the year, with registrations accepted up to two weeks prior to the exams. The next examinations for A1, A2 and B1 at the University of Birmingham take place on 29 April 2025.
