ICT and sustainability in the development of smart city initiatives

Supervisors: Dr Adrian Campbell (primary supervisor), Dr Elena Denezhkina (secondary supervisor)

Jiasi Zhou is undertaking postgraduate research on smart city initiatives, a development project that is embedded with the usage of ICT. The linkage between ICT and smart city initiatives is widely seen from both theoretical and empirical evidence. However, there are design-reality gaps in the development of smart city initiatives, which may limit the usage of ICT and thus affect the sustainability of smart city initiatives. Her research therefore seeks to explore the development of smart city initiatives, with a focus on both ICT and sustainability.
