Sustainable Finance Conference 2024

The Cardiff Sustainable Finance Research Group (CSFRG) and the Sustainable Financial Innovation Centre (SFiC) at the University of Birmingham are proud to announce the Sustainable Finance Conference taking place in person at Birmingham Business School on Friday, 25 October 2024.

The aim of the conference is to facilitate extensive discussions surrounding cutting-edge research in Sustainable Finance, which not only provides valuable insights but also explores the multifaceted opportunities and challenges associated with sustainable finance development.

We invite researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to submit their original research papers and case studies that contribute to the field of Sustainable Finance. This includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

• Green finance, carbon credit, climate finance
• Corporate governance, corporate social responsibility
• Diversity, equity and inclusivity
• Artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in sustainable finance
• Green financial institutions
• Risk management, stress testing and green/sustainable/climate finance challenges
• Cryptocurrency and digital finance interactions with green/sustainable/climate finance
• Contagion and interlinkages between climate/sustainable financial instruments
• Green/sustainable/climate assets and portfolio allocation
• Environmental risks and regulatory policies

Keynote speaker

Omrane Guedhami is the C. Russell Hill Professor and Professor of International Finance at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Guedhami’s research interests are international, covering corporate governance, audit quality, tax enforcement, state capitalism and privatization, national culture, and corporate social responsibility. His publication record includes more than 120 peer-reviewed articles published in leading academic journals (42 articles in Financial Times’ Top 50 Journals List).

He has received numerous research distinctions and prestigious awards, including the 2003 Best Dissertation in International Finance Case Award, the 2011 Moskowitz Prize for Socially Responsible Investing Award, the 2015 Emerald Citations of Excellence Award. the Journal of International Business Studies Silver Medal (2019). Recently, he was identified as a Top Journal of Corporate Finance Author between 1994 and 2018, and among the top scholars in corporate governance and culture and finance.

He is currently an Editor for Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Business Ethics, Corporate Governance: An International Review, and a Consulting Editor for the Journal of International Business Studies.

Submission and Registration

Please email a PDF copy of your paper or extended abstract to CSFRG@cardiff.ac.uk by 15 August 2024. The registration fee is £100 (and £50 for PhD students) that includes conference attendance, all conference materials, coffee breaks, lunch and the gala dinner.

Publication Opportunities

With consultation with the Editor-in-Chief, selected conference papers will be invited for regular submission to The European Journal of Finance, International Review of Economics and Finance, Journal of Sustainable Finance & Investment.
