The University of Birmingham Observatory was established in 1982 as a teaching laboratory for the Physics and Astrophysics undergraduate degree programme. The Observatory has a 0.5 metre Ritchey Chretian telescope, the largest optical telescope within easy reach of central Birmingham and the surrounding West Midlands region.
The telescopes are scheduled for teaching in term time but are available in the vacation for research purposes.
