The 10th Financial Inclusion Monitor report was released online on 6th December 2022, followed by a special policy focused event in London on 16th February 2023.

We are sorry to inform you that widespread industrial action has forced us to cancel our planned launch event to discuss the findings of the 10th Financial Inclusion Monitor.  With so many sectors affected by strikes at the moment, including higher education, we are unable to move the event online.  We apologise for any inconvenience that this causes.

The current turbulence highlights only too clearly the timeliness of our findings and we are working hard to find alternative ways to discuss this topic with the widest possible audience, including policy makers, practitioners, not-for-profits, journalists and academics. We will also look at ways to share the findings in a variety of formats, from short video discussions to written articles, which will be available on the CHASM webpages.

The 10th Financial Inclusion Monitor report was released online on 6th December, followed by a special policy focused event in London on 16th February. The launch event will bring together academics, policy makers and practitioners with an interest in financial inclusion and financial wellbeing to discuss the findings of the 10th edition of this important, timely report, this year led by CHASM’s Professor Adele Atkinson.

At a time when many are struggling with personal finances during the cost of living crisis and the UK is facing a unique period of financial uncertainty, this report highlights the everyday issues facing households across the UK.

Since 2013, the Financial Inclusion Monitoring Reports from CHASM at the University of Birmingham and the University of Lincoln have kept financial inclusion on the agenda at times when the topic was achieving much less prominence than currently. The annual Financial Inclusion Monitors have been supported by Barrow Cadbury Trust and Friends Provident, and prepared by CHASM at the University of Birmingham, in partnership with Prof. Karen Rowlingson (University of York) and Prof. Steve McKay (University of Lincoln).

We are delighted to confirm that speakers at this event will include:

  • Muna Yassin MBE , CEO at Fair Money Advice
  • Dr Rajiv Prabhakar, Open University
  • Caroline Siarkiewicz, Chief Executive, Money and Pension Service

Event timetable

  • 9:00 – 9:30 Networking opportunity, with refreshments
