Amira Hosny-Ibrahim
Amira is a neurological physiotherapist with a special interest in treating stroke patients using neurorehabilitation technology. She is currently acting as the clinic supervisor and physiotherapist for ‘Physio for Stroke,’ where her work will be focused on developing the student-led clinic, supervising students, and treating stroke outpatients. She graduated with a First-Class BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Birmingham, where her dissertation focused on motor imagery.
Following her studies, Amira completed her clinical rotations at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and then joined a private neurorehabilitation hospital, working with a variety of patients and regularly utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as robotics and neurorehabilitation virtual reality software. She plans to continue utilizing these technologies in the student-led clinic. She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and is HCPC registered.
Dr David Punt (PhD, MCSP)
David qualified as a physiotherapist in 1990 and has spent most of the time since working in stroke rehabilitation (practice and research). He currently leads the physiotherapy programme at the university.
David also retains an honorary contract with the National Health Service and works as a physiotherapist with the Inpatient Stroke Rehabilitation Team at Moseley Hall Hospital (Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust).
