The Centre for Human Brain Health (CHBH) is a leading brain research facility established with the mission of understanding the fundamental mechanisms of the human brain, as well as comprehending what constitutes a healthy brain, how to maintain it, and how to prevent and reverse damage. The vision of our Centre is to transcend the boundaries of traditional academic and clinical disciplines, transforming our understanding of the human brain.
We recognise that to achieve the goal of personalised brain health, we must first identify what constitutes a healthy brain and how lifestyle, developmental, and societal factors interact and contribute to this endeavor. With access to a large and diverse local population and through six core research themes, our Centre is excellently positioned to translate these fundamental insights into the human brain, providing a better understanding of it from childhood to late adulthood.
To facilitate our mission, we comprise a vibrant and diverse interdisciplinary neuroscientific community, encompassing Principal Investigators and their lab teams, supported by a team of technical and operational staff. The Centre houses cutting-edge brain imaging facilities and is ideally located on the University's Edgbaston campus, allowing us to conduct interdisciplinary research for academics (internal and external), students, clinicians, and industry professionals.
Since inception, our academics have generated funding from a wide range of sources, and frequently publish in a substantial number of internationally peer-reviewed journals. For the latest round-up of information about the Centre, please read our most recent CHBH Annual Reports.
