IT Service Desk
The IT Service Portal is your route to requesting items, requesting help and support, or for logging faults.
If you have specific needs/questions about any of the BEAR services please use the appropriate ticket in the Research section. This ensures that they reach the most appropriate person, that progress is tracked and information exchanged efficiently both between you and Advanced Research Computing. It also allows any common areas of concern to be identified as well as addressing the immediate issue. Please see the knowledge base article How to submit a good fault report.
If you are accessing a BEAR service (such as BlueBEAR or the Research Data Store) as part of a taught degree then either your project supervisor or course lead, as appropriate, should be contacted for support in the first instance. You will also not be able to directly use the research section tickets in the IT Service Portal.
Drop-in Sessions
We also provide BEAR drop-in sessions which are run at different locations on campus and offer researchers the chance to talk face to face with the Advanced Researching Computing team.
Community
All researchers who use research computing facilities at the University of Birmingham are welcome to join the UoB Research Computing Community slack channel.
