Advanced Image Analysis Specialist, Institute of Translational Medicine

What is your research background and current field of research?
As a mathematician turned biomedical image analysis specialist, my passion lies at the intersection of mathematics, technology, and medical research. My work delves into the fascinating world of spatial biology, where complex imaging technologies reveal intricate biological landscapes. From traditional brightfield microscopy techniques like H&E and IHC to cutting-edge multiplex immunofluorescence and spatial transcriptomics, I explore how mathematical approaches can unlock deeper insights into cellular interactions and tissue dynamics.
Which BEAR Services have been most helpful to you in your research?
The Birmingham Environment Academic Research (BEAR) services have been transformative in my research journey. Their Research Data Storage and high-performance computing platform, BlueBEAR, have been nothing short of essential. What truly sets BEAR apart is not just their technological infrastructure, but their exceptional, responsive support. Whenever I've needed assistance, their team has been quick, friendly, and laser-focused on addressing my specific research needs.
How widespread do you think BEAR Services are known in your School and how do you plan to spread the word?
While awareness of BEAR services exists within my academic community, I've noticed many researchers hesitate to fully leverage these incredible resources. My mission? To demystify these tools and empower my colleagues. I'm actively involved in teaching BEAR Carpentry courses and providing hands-on support to help researchers effectively manage and maximise their digital research capabilities.
How can researchers in your School/College contact you?

What's an interesting fact about you?
Beyond the microscope and mathematical models, I'm an adventurer at heart. One of my most memorable experiences? Cycling the incredible journey from Bangkok to Singapore – a testament to my love for exploration, whether it's through biological landscapes or geographical terrains!
