Adam is one of our former BEAR Champions.

What is your research background and current role in the University?

I am a postdoctoral researcher in atmospheric chemistry, focussing on lab-based proxies for organic aerosols found in the atmosphere. My work involves studying the kinetics of chemical reactions in atmospheric aerosols and films found on the surfaces of these aerosols. I make models to describe these reactions and draw atmospheric implications from my lab-based work.

Which BEAR Services have been most helpful to you in your research?

I have used the BlueBEAR HPC service. It helped me optimise my computationally expensive models of aerosol particles and gather statistics associated with fitted model parameters. This resulted in publications which would not have been possible without BlueBEAR.

How widespread do you think BEAR Services are known in your School and how do you plan to spread the word?

The Research Data Store is the most well-known BEAR service in my department. At the beginning of the new academic year, when new PhD students tend to start, I plan on sending an email advertising the range of services BEAR has to offer. We also have a weekly newsletter which I can use to periodically remind the department about specific BEAR services.

What's an interesting fact about you?

I spent 2 years learning Turkish.
