Welcome to the MASC audit news page. We will use this page to inform MASC collaborators about the project on REDCap. We are the ESCP REDCap admin team, based at the University of Birmingham. The first point of contact for MASC information is still the ESCP website, where you will find protocol, CRFs, and other MASC documents.
Do we have to have entered a patient on to REDCap by 1st July 2019? No
Centres should start screening for eligible patients on or before 1st July. We understand that centres might not have any eligible patients straight away so it's not expected that REDCap should be updated by 1st July 2019. Posted on 21/06/2019
MASC at 19th June 2019
A big thank you to everyone that has been inputting data into REDCap so far, we have now reached 193 patients, from 69 centres, across 27 countries. Thank you and congratulations to the team at Ibn Sina Hospital in Rabat, Morocco, who uploaded the first patient to MASC back on the 4th February 2019. It's felt like hard work to get the audit established but we are on the way now thanks to all the MASC hospital sites. Posted on 19/06/2019
Should patients that have responded well to medical management be included in MASC? Yes
Patients admitted with ASUC (or if the UC becomes acute during hospitalization) should be included in MASC, including any that respond well to medical treatment. As long as patients are 16 years or older, and don't have infectious or ischemic colitis if there is no previous diagnosis of UC. MASC is not just about patients that don't respond well to medical management, as we are aiming to capture the pathway for all ASUC patients. Posted on 18/06/2019

MASC Data Sharing Agreement
We now have a generic Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) for the MASC audit. This is to future-proof the project and the team's data regardless of what happens in the coming months with Brexit. MASC start-up window extended to 1st July 2019
The window to start screening for patients for MASC has been extended to 1st July 2019. We are aware of delays in obtaining site approvals or ethical clearance at some centres. We have also faced challenges around Brexit and GDPR so we have extended the start up window for centres to start auditing. Posted on 05/05/2019
Approvals, Ethics and Data Sharing Agreements
To take part in MASC you'll need to register this audit at your hospital. Follow the correct local process in your centre to gain approval, and if it would help you to see ethics approval from another collaborating site we might be able to help you, you can contact the team on escp@contacts.bham.ac.uk. Some teams have requested a Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) and the University of Birmingham (which hosts the REDCap system we are using for MASC) is preparing a DSA. We'll let you know when this is ready. We are required to use the University of Birmingham DSA, rather than a contract from team centre, and we will be unable to accept any changes to the standard agreement. Posted on 14/02/2019

If you have not received your login yet, this could be because we have not had confirmation that you have approvals in place yet, or we have a question about email addresses. MASC is open - here's a very short reminder of what collaborators need to do
The patient inclusion window starts from 1st Feb to 1st July 2019. You should start collecting patient data within this window, and continue for a minimum of 6 months.
