Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals are increasingly required to develop academic careers alongside their clinical and managerial responsibilities. The National Institute of Health Research has therefore funded a series of academic training pathways to support and assist nurses, midwives and allied health professionals in their career development.
Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals wanting to pursue a clinical academic career should consider applying for the following awards, according to their current level of academic training:
- Masters in Research and Masters in Clinical Research, University of Birmingham runs an MRes in Health Research
- Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship in order to obtain a PhD. Visit the NIHR Fellowship Scheme website.
