Professor Ivan Shestakov joins us from the University of Sao Paulo as an Institute of Advanced Studies Distinguished Visiting Fellow for the second of two visits June 1 to 30 2017, hosted by Professor Sergey Schpectorov.
Professor Shestakov is a prominent Brazillian and Russian algebraist leading a strong research group in non-associative algebra at the University of Sao Paulo. He is a full member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. He is also on the Editorial Boards of several academic journals and he has served on the Organising Committees of several national and international conferences.
During his first visit Professor Shestakov will explore with Birmingham researchers how the class of axial algebras fits within the structure of known classes of non-associative algebras.
It is hoped that Professor Shestakov's visit will open up the lines of collaboration with the research group in non-associative algebra at the University of Sao Paulo.
Please contact Sue Gilligan if you would like more information regarding Professor Shestakov's visit.
