Whilst the ARCANE project is focused on nickel superalloys the methods developed have potential for more widespread application in the fields of: grain refinement; refractories for liquid metal processing; simulation of solidification microstructures and defects; materials testing at high temperatures; and, application of computer science methods in high value manufacturing.
