One of the most important features of the CTL is the creation of a single multi-skilled and flexible technical team. The CTL team members come from a multitude of backgrounds – some from the CTL-participating Schools’ technical teams, some new graduates from University degrees and some newly recruited from outside the University. Together they deliver skilled support to the laboratories and help realise new ideas for experiments from the STEM Schools.
The University is committed to enhancing the skills of its technician workforce and to encouraging their professional registration and career progression.
The University is a founder partner in the National Technician Development Centre, led by the University of Sheffield, which leads on the development of technical skills in UK universities.
