DISN - Inclusion and Special Educational Needs: How far have we come? How far have we to go?

The Department of Disability, Inclusion and Special Needs (DISN) at the School of Education presents 'Inclusion and Special Educational Needs: How far have we come? How far have we to go?'

Colleagues from (DISN) at University of Birmingham are hosting an event in which we discuss how far we have come in terms of diversity and inclusion in education globally.

Professor Julie Allan will first give an overview of the education landscape and set the scene for the importance of having a commitment towards both general inclusive principles and distinctive teaching for people with different disabilities. Panel members will then give their perspectives on different topics and the audience will be invited to participate in discussion.

Sue Morris will offer her perspective on ‘The Educational Psychology contribution to debate and practices around inclusion: the good, the bad and the transformational’; Rachel Hewett on ‘Higher Education Access for students with VI’ and Sarah Benson on ‘Inclusion and Special Educational Needs in the Middle East.

Professor Karen Guldberg will chair the discussion.
