Intellectual Property and Licensing
Birmingham academics deliver practical solutions to global challenges. They create life-changing technologies, innovations that move the dial in global health, original ways of connecting cultures, and inclusive ways of ensuring a fairer world for all.
The IP and Commercialisation (IPaC) team works with researchers from all colleges to protect IP, identify the most suitable markets for inventions and promote to them, and negotiate agreements when the IP is licensed.
The team also supports researchers through bespoke commercialisation programmes, and refers inventors for training, mentoring and coaching. It has a growing focus on Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts for People and the Economy (SHAPE) disciplines, with a member of staff now dedicated to building the portfolio, and runs an express licensing website.
