As part of the College of Social Sciences Inaugural lecture series, Dr Sami Bensassi (Senior Lecturer in Managerial Economics ) will present a lecture entitled ‘Researching Informal Trade in Economic Development’ and Dr Stephen Jeffaries (Senior Lecturer in INLOGOV ) will offer a talk entitled ‘The Virtual Public Servant: Artificial Intelligence and Frontline Work’.
About Dr Sami Bensassi
After completing a PhD in Economics (University of Paris Nanterre, France), Sami Bensassi joined the University Jaume I (Spain) in 2009. During the period he passed in Spain, he led a research project on the impact of maritime trade on the Mediterranean countries for the Center for Research on the Mediterranean Economies (CREMED). In 2012, Sami started lecturing at the University of Portsmouth. He won an award for his research on the Barcelona process and on modern maritime piracy. Sami joined the Birmingham Business School in January 2013.
About Dr Stephen Jaffares
Stephen is a Senior Lecturer and Director of Postgraduate Research in the School of Government and Society based in INLOGOV, Institute for Local Government Studies.
