ICGS Cell Sorting Service
The MoFlo XDP is a high-speed cell sorter capable of sorting up to 70,000 cells per second to high purity and viability. It has the capability of sorting into tubes, plates, or slides. Up to 4 populations can be sorted into tubes (either Eppendorf tubes or 5ml tubes) or larger populations can be sorted into 15ml and 50ml tubes (2-way sorts only).
Likewise, cells can be sorted from varying types of tubes and from any type of medium that is optimal for the particular cells. The XDP is equipped with 3 lasers (405, 488, and 633nm) and can sort up to 12 parameters. Both pre- and post-sorted cells can be temperature controlled. Samples are acquired using Summit software. Available for booking at reasonably short notice and out of hours by negotiation.

Dr Mary Clarke - Research Fellow
Dr Clarke has 12 years of experience in running the MoFlo XDP sorter, and in more recent years has been solely responsible for its operation and maintenance. Dr Clarke has been fully trained and accredited by Beckman Coulter. Dr Clarke’s own research involves the isolation and characterisation of very rare stem cell populations, often in single digit numbers, which are then utilised for a variety of in vivo assays or omics-based analyses. Over the last year, Dr Clarke has been sorting cells for a number of groups working in quite different fields, often requiring high purity, high viability, and at large scale under sterile conditions as required for their particular downstream applications.
