PERCAT Information Session: Support for Teaching and Supervision - 25 November 20

Join this online session to find out more about the support available for those involved in teaching and supervision at the University of Birmingham, including the support available for you to achieve an internationally recognised award which recognises the teaching and supervision you already do.

“Associate Fellowship” of Advance HE is a category of recognition for teaching that is suitable for those who do small amounts of teaching, tutoring or demonstrating, including supervision of project students.  It is suitable for postdoctoral and early career research staff and can be achieved through completing an application form based on your experiences of teaching.

This information session will tell you more about the Associate Fellowship award and the support available at the University of Birmingham through the Beacon scheme to help you complete the application form and achieve the award.  Your application is free and the award is internationally recognised, meaning you carry it with you if you move elsewhere.

Fellowship of Advance HE is increasingly a requirement for new academic staff both at UoB and other universities. Therefore, having Associate Fellowship is a sign of your commitment to excellence in Higher Education.

Dr Andrew Quinn, Deputy Director of Education for the College of Engineering & Physical Sciences, Dr Leanne Taylor-Smith, Lecturer in the School of Biosciences and LES representative on the Beacon panel, and Dionne Barton, Beacon Programme Lead for HEFi, will be present to talk about Associate Fellowship and the support available at UoB.

Who is this information session aimed at?

All postdoctoral and early career research staff within EPS and LES who are involved in teaching and supervising students and who would like to gain an internationally recognised award to reflect this.
