The University of Birmingham is a partner in the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Institute of Technology.
The IoT is transforming STEM education by addressing specific technical skills gaps in this area. It is a collaboration between employers, further education and higher education providers.
The IoT will target under-represented learners, giving them a clear progression route from education into technical jobs and providing employers with a skilled workforce.
IoTs are designed for:
- young people taking T levels or A levels who want to progress to higher technical education
- adult learners who want access to further training
- people in employment who want to develop new skills

The IoT is advised by a group of employers and stakeholders to ensure that it is employer-led and responds to the needs in our region.
