Funding advice clinics

If you are a current University of Birmingham student and have general questions about funding your studies, or want to get some budgeting advice, you can talk to a member of the Funding, Graduation and Awards team at one of our virtual funding advice clinics.

Appointments are available between 2pm and 4pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays outside of University vacation periods. Please read the information below before booking an appointment.  

Who should book a virtual appointment?

A virtual funding advice session is for you if:

  • You are experiencing financial difficulties or are concerned about your financial situation;
  • You are planning to apply for another degree and are unsure how to fund your studies;
  • You need information about Student Loans from the Student Loans Company;
  • You need help with making an application to the Student Support Fund;
  • You have any other queries relating to funding your studies and have not been able to find the answer online.

Please note that we are only able to advise on matters relating to student funding, scholarships and support provided by the University. We can not discuss financial products or private loans and are not able to give financial advice. If your query concerns tuition or accommodation fees, please contact the Student Fees Office.

What if I am unable to attend during clinic hours?

We provide a host of information on our webpages. We also run virtual funding advice sessions for prospective postgraduate students through the Postgraduate Virtual Open Days website.  

If you need to discuss something in private outside of the set clinic hours, then please talk to your Welfare Tutor/Officer to ask for a referral.

How do I cancel my appointment?

If you no longer need the appointment, please cancel your booking by emailing us at fga@contacts.bham.ac.uk.
