A Day in the Life of Rosalinda

    Meet Rosalinda

I am currently in my second year studying Business Management with Marketing, and I am hoping to carry out a placement year in industry next year. I am also a Publicity Officer for the UoB Marketing Society (MarkSoc) Committee, and I am a Student Ambassador and Content Creator. I am originally from Shropshire and really enjoy attending a university that is in the West Midlands.

9:00 Campus tour

To start the day, I give a campus tour to some sixth form students who are interested in applying to the university. As a student ambassador at the university, the role is flexible and I am allowed to choose when I work so my job never gets in the way of my academics.

12:00 Library Cafe

I meet up with some of my course friends in the Library Cafe to have lunch and study in preparation for a test that’s coming up in one of our modules. It’s helpful to see how they have been revising and to have them test me on the content.

  • Two female students doing group work

    13:00 Group project

It’s time to go to the Teaching and Learning Building to have a meeting for my group project. It’s almost finished so we just need to go over the final details and submit it for marking.

14:00 Lecture

My only lecture of the day! It's two hours long and is based on the topic of consumer culture. Lecturers are research leaders in their fields, so they are the best people to learn from.

  • Male and female students taking part in a seminar

    16:00 Seminar

Next up is my seminar. A seminar is a small classroom-sized session that focuses more closely on topics covered in lectures. It’s a good chance to apply theory and ask some questions.

17:00 Society Committee Meeting

After heading home, I have a virtual MarkSoc Committee meeting. We are responsible for planning all the events and competitions in the society so it’s important that we regularly meet to communicate about our next steps.

20:00 Dinner with friends in Birmingham

After a busy day, I’m excited to get ready for dinner and drinks with my friends in Brindley Place before heading to an open mic night in Digbeth. Birmingham is such a big city so there is always something to do!
