Biography

Before joining the University of Birmingham, I completed my PhD in International Development, which was based on anthropological fieldwork in Uganda and explored how contemporary ‘born-again’ Christians understand the future and mediate challenges in life, in particular by using patronage relations. Prior to this, I carried out anthropological research in Northern Thailand, looking at how Thai women who converted from Theravada Buddhism to Pentecostal Christianity changed their ideas about relationships with men.

Research

My research interests lie primarily in the anthropology of Christianity, specifically at Pentecostalism and Evangelicalism in global contexts.
