Teresa is a Clinical Psychologist specialising in working with children, young people and their families. She has a special interest in autism spectrum, pathological demand avoidance and chronic health conditions. As a clinical tutor on the Clinical Psychology Doctorate Programme she oversees the personal and professional issues curriculum model and is involved in the child module teaching and clinical placement organization. Teresa also works clinically in the NHS offering psychological support to children and young people with a diagnosis of diabetes.

Biography

Teresa qualified form the Clinical Psychology Doctorate Programme in Birmingham in 2002. Post qualification she worked for 12 years in a child and family psychology service in Walsall in the West Midlands.  She joined the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Programme at Birmingham in January 2014. Her main role as clinical tutor is to support the clinical director and work as part of the clinical tutor team in being responsible for overseeing the clinical component of peoples’ training over the three years. The role involves  facilitating supervisor workshops  supervisor training workshops and also other generic duties of the Course Team such as marking, being an appraisal tutor and attendance at relevant course committees such Course Management and Curriculum and Assessment Committee and facilitating a reflective practice group.  Teresa also works clinically for a day a week in offering psychology support and intervention to  children and young people with diabetes.

Teresa is responsible for teaching various sessions within the Clinical Psychology  Doctorate Programme including: 

  • Assessing children and families
  • Parenting
  • Models of Supervision
  • Placement Preparation 

Postgraduate supervision

Teresa is involved in the supervision of clinical psychology doctorate research projects.

Other activities

I work clinically in paediatric diabetes at the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) and at St. Cross Hospital in Rugby.

I sit on the steering group for the National Children and Young Persons Diabetes Network (West Midlands). 

I am an accredited practitioner for:
