Pete Alcock is a Professor of Social Policy and Administration and Director of the Third Sector Research Centre. He has over thirty years of academic work in social policy, with research interests that include analysis of voluntary organisations; partnership policy and practice; development and impact of UK government policy on the third sector; role of voluntary and community sectors in area-based policy action; and theoretical analysis of the role of the sector in development and delivery of social policy. He is a member of the Steering Group of the Voluntary Sector Studies Network and was previously Chair of the Social Policy Association.
Pete is author and editor of a number of leading books and has written numerous articles and papers about social policy, the voluntary sector, social security, poverty and social exclusion, and anti-poverty policy. His publications include: Social Policy in Britain 3e (2008), International Social Policy 2e (2009), The Blackwell Dictionary of Social Policy (2002), and Welfare and Wellbeing (2001).
