Nick Sharman is Director of Local Government at A4e, the country’s largest provider of welfare to work services. He was previously Managing Director, Local Government, at Amey plc overseeing a £400m p.a. portfolio of partnership based service and PFI delivery contracts across the UK. He has had a variety of board level positions in both the private and public sectors, ranging from UK Director of Brink’s, the American owned security transport company, to Deputy Chief Executive of the London Borough of Islington. At Islington he led the development of public private partnerships to deliver mainstream services and large scale regeneration schemes.
Prior to that Nick was Director of Operations at the London Development Agency, a post which included a year’s secondment to the DTI as a director of regions. He has held responsibility as Chair of the CBI’s Local Government Panel and has written widely on strategic and regeneration issues in local and regional government. Previous engagement with the University of Birmingham includes participating in a mini commission on ‘Good Practice in Joint Ventures, Alliances and Strategic Public Partnerships in Public Services’ (2008).
