David Weaver is an Honorary Professor in the School of Physics and Astronomy. He specialises in the field of nuclear power technology. He was responsible for leading the MSc in the Physics and Technology of Nuclear Reactors at the University of Birmingham for fifteen years and continues to teach on that course since his retirement. His research interests have mainly focussed on nuclear data for reactor technology, including delayed neutrons and fission yields, but has also involved various neutron and dosimetry applications. Since retiring David has interacted with various parts of the UK industry, the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as a consultant. He has recently been featured in the media commenting on the situation at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, Japan.
