After studying astrophysics as an undergraduate, Dr Pratten obtained a PhD in Physics with Astronomy from Cardiff University in 2010, with a focus on aspects of theoretical cosmology. He held post-doctoral positions at the University of Sussex and the University of the Balearic Islands before joining the University of Birmingham as a postdoctoral research associate in 2019. In 2022, Dr Pratten was awarded a prestigious Royal Society University Research Fellowship and became and Assistant Professor at the University of Birmingham.
