Research

The NDT and Condition Monitoring Research Group has been involved in several projects related to the renewable energy and transport sector with particular emphasis given to rail and maritime related applications. Projects that Professor Papaelias and the members of the NDT and Condition Monitoring Research Group have been involved include SAFERAIL, INTERAIL, NIMO, OPTIMUS, MOSAIC, COMORAIL and others.

Members of the Research Group led by Professor Papaelias have been successful in winning important awards including the Best Paper presented at The Stephenson Conference: Research for Railways held in London in April 2017, and the Len Gelman Award for the Best Paper from an Early Career Researcher at the First World Congress on Condition Monitoring held in London in June 2017.

The research carried out in SAFERAIL was also the subject of a FUTURIS documentary aired by Euronews. The NDT and Condition Monitoring Research Group offers a wide range of M.Sc. by Research and Ph.D. topics for interested applicants that are interested in pursuing a research degree on the subject.
