Hajra acquired her medical degree from the University of Southampton in 2014. After completing foundation training, she chose to specialise in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the West Midlands. Whilst acquiring her clinical competencies, she also worked as a research associate to further her interest and experience in academia. This led to being offered a clinical research fellow post and enrolment on to a PhD programme under the supervision of Professor Arri Coomarasamy. Her research focuses on assessing the effectiveness of ovarian transplantation in preventing early menopause and cryopreservation of ovarian transplants to preserve fertility and hormonal function. Hajra has been awarded the Wellbeing of Women’s Entry Level Research scholarship to assess the role of ovarian tissue in preventing early menopause. Hajra was also successful in acquiring the EBCOG travelling fellowship which enabled her to learn about ovarian tissue cryopreservation and transplantation techniques from leading experts in the field of fertility preservation in Belgium and Denmark.

Hajra is also actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching where she regularly teaches Year 2 and 5 students at the Birmingham Medical School.
