Dr Joanne Palmer is a post-doctoral research fellow working in the AI and digital health team at the University of Birmingham and University of Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
She is interested in the ethical and governance of health data management, equity in the development of AI health technology, and incorporating the voices of patients and the public into every facet of research.
She is currently a core member of the team for the STANDING Together project with Dr Joseph Alderman, Dr Elinor Laws, Dr Xiaoxuan Liu, and Professor Alastair Denniston. Through collaboration with an international team of stakeholders and consultation with members of the public, STANDING Together aims to set standards to encourage health datasets to better reflect society, meaning that AI health technology works well for everyone.
