James has been a learning technologist for 14 years – 6 of those within the College of Arts and Law at the University – and since being in post he has undertaken the University’s Post Graduate Certificate for Higher Education, becoming a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. James continues to support staff in the College with core digital tools including Canvas, Turnitin, and especially Panopto for lecture recording and video hosting.
James has a strong content development background, in particular multi-media, routinely co-creating resources with academic colleagues, including video lectures and screen-recorded tutorials. James’ is a big advocate for developing practice around alternative modes of summative assessment, in particular the use of video, which is now gathering pace throughout the University. Most recently James is proud to have been involved with an overhaul of Digital Education guidance materials on their newly-created SharePoint pages: https://bham.sharepoint.com/sites/HefiGuidance
