Sudarshan's PhD research investigates the multifaceted nature of energy poverty in Nepal, focusing on variations across rural and urban contexts and its interaction with external shocks, including climate change impacts.

His research interests broadly include energy justice, renewable energy, the capability approach, human development, and climate change.

He has experience working with private, as well as governmental and non-governmental institutions, on various energy projects, particularly off-grid energy systems.

Biography

Sudarshan studied Mechanical Engineering at Pulchowk Engineering Campus, Tribhuvan University. He then pursued an MSc in Sustainable Development and an MA in Social Research, with focus on energy, climate change, and human development. In between his academic progression, he worked with private as well as governmental and non-governmental institutions on various energy projects, mostly off-grid energy systems. In 2022, he joined the University of Birmingham as a PhD student, researching the multifaceted nature of energy poverty in Nepal and its interaction with external shocks.
